In a bid to reach new, younger audiences,Broadway is bringing its story to Snapchat, the photo- and video-sharing app on which posts appear only temporarily.
This Wednesday, Snapchat will curate a series of posts from Broadway performers into what’s known as a “live story,” or a stream of images related to the same theme. Themes vary from food to travel to entertainment.
Snapchat’s live Broadway story is being touted as the first of its kind to incorporate multiple shows. Expected participants include “An American in Paris,” “The Lion King” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” Cast members from the musical “Beautiful” will post from backstage before and during their matinee.
